Better telecommunications to boost opportunities, Ader tells ITU conference
Budapest (MTI) – Efficient telecommunications will increase “our opportunities, openness, freedom, and security”, President Janos Ader told a gala night of the World Telecom conference, which started in Budapest on Monday.
In his address, the president said that the IT revolution of the second half of the 20th century was almost entirely due to developments by private companies. He said that small and medium-size companies were key to Hungary’s success, and the country was committed to helping at least 300 knowledge-based and dynamic Hungarian SMEs to the global market, and assisting the creation of at least 1,000 innovative startups by 2020.
Ader also said that nearly 15 percent of Hungary’s employed had jobs in the digital economy, many of them working in infocommunications.
The ITU Telecom World conference is held between October 12-15.
