Hungarian designer’s concrete bench among the finalists at prestigious international Architizer A+ Award
Hungarian Fruzsina Fülöp designed a beautiful concrete bench called KAVICS (it means smaller stone in Hungarian). The bench is among the finalists at the famous Architizer A+ Award. The vote is until 5 July.
KAVICS
A design named KAVICS by Hungarian designer Fruzsina Fülöp was chosen to be among the finalists of the best outdoor furniture this year at the Architizer A+Awards, Forbes reports. According to the website of the Republic of Concrete:
“KAVICS is actually a massive concrete product cast in a mould which was created from 30 sculptural shape studies, followed by 3D scanning and CNC cutting process. It is the outcome of a long cooperation between sculptors, designers and concrete experts. It has gained its final shape thanks to a special concrete mixture of our own development and a unique production method. This is KAVICS beyond its appearance.”
KAVICS can be seen in Nyíregyháza, and in three different locations in Budapest: at the Buda bridgehead of the Chain Bridge, in Jerusalem Park, and at Dagály Boulevard.
Architizer A+Awards
According to their website, the Architizer A+Awards is “the largest awards program focused on promoting and celebrating the year’s best architecture and products. Its mission is to nurture the appreciation of meaningful architecture in the world and champion those products that are integral to bringing great buildings to life.”
KAVICS is not the first Hungarian design to win an Architizer A+ Award: for example, the metro stations of Fővám Square and St. Gellért Square won in 2014.
