Semjen visits Nigerian national mosque
Budapest (MTI) – Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjen visited the Abuja mosque on the second day of an official visit to Nigeria, the head of the PM’s press office told MTI.
Semjen was received at the mosque by the chief secretary of the National Islamic Council Ibrahim H. Jega and Alhaji Baba Yunusa, the chairman of the national mosque’s management board, said Bertalan Havasi.
On behalf of the Hungarian government, Semjen expressed condolences for the victims of a terrorist attack in the Nigerian city of Yola on Friday.
The attack, attributed to extremist Islamic terrorist organisation Boko Haram, killed more than 40 Muslims and injured about a hundred more.
Terror recognises no nationality nor religion, Semjen said.
“Based on our respect for the Islamic faith, we firmly condemn any form of terrorism,” Semjen said.
The Nigerian religious leaders expressed their thanks for Hungary’s solidarity and their trust in Islamic-Christian brotherhood, Havasi said.
