Budapest (MTI) – The government will spend revenue from carbon-dioxide emission units entirely on developing electromobility infrastructure, Economy Minister Mihaly Varga said on Wednesday.
Speaking at the opening of the Day of Electromobility at the College of Dunaujvaros in central Hungary, Varga said the recently-drafted Jedlik Anyos Plan, a blueprint for the regulatory and support framework required for popularising electromobility, was the first of its kind in central Europe. The plan includes replacing internal-combustion engine vehicles with plug-in hybrid electric ones.
Varga said the government aims to have 54,000 electric cars on the roads by 2020, which, he noted, requires infrastructure development. The government intends to have a sufficient number of charging stations installed, for which it has allocated seven billion forints (EUR 22.5m) in the current budget, the minister said.
