Catholic leader, ex-president’s wife hand over Xmas presents
Budapest, December 22 (MTI) – Hungary’s Catholic leader Cardinal Erdo and Dalma Madl, the widow of former president Ferenc Madl and goodwill envoy, handed over Christmas packages to 250 needy children in a church in Budapest on Tuesday.
The packages contained toys donated by other children living under better conditions and contributions collected by the Hungarian Catholic Charity under a Christmas campaign organised for the 18th time.
The campaign dubbed “Children for Children” donates altogether 15,000 Christmas packages across the country this year, Gabor Ecsy, the director of the charity, said.
The event was attended by Miklos Soltesz, the president of the Charity Council, who is state secretary in charge of church and civil society relations.
