Government promises Hungary to become regional leader in electromobility
Budapest, January 6 (MTI) – Hungary will become a leader in electromobility in central Europe thanks to the government’s targeted efforts, a development ministry official said late on Tuesday.
In order to enable the use of electric cars throughout Hungary, 150 electric charging stations will be set up in the near future, state secretary for energy affairs Andras Aradszki said. Legal amendments have been introduced to speed up the licensing of such stations, he added.
The government will offer numerous incentives for purchasing electric cars, such as registration tax exemption for first-time buyers, VAT benefits and allowing electric cars to use bus lanes.
These advantages are expected to compensate customers for the higher purchase price of electric cars, he said. Additionally, technical advancement will make such cars cheaper, more efficient and reliable in the future, he added.
