According to index.hu, the trial runs of the Metro line 4 with passengers have been completed on December 30, 2015. According to the statement of the mayor’s office, the National Transport Authority gave the fully automatic metro line its final license to operate.
The construction of the metro line began in 2006. The passengers could use it for the first time in March 28, 2014. The line is 7.3 km long, it has 10 stops and consists of two separate tunnels. Its terminus on the Buda side is the Kelenfold railway station, its other final stop is Keleti railway station in Pest.
15 subway cars operate on Metro Line 4, each of them has 4 coaches. They are one-roomed, air-conditioned and auto-controlled. The train crews only operated them until October 2015, until the test runs ended. Soon, the cabs will be removed.
The full automatic metro is unique in Central-Eastern Europe, index.hu wrote, furthermore: it is also rare in Europe. According to the announcement of the mayor’s office, the level of availability is above 99.96%, that is, failure is very rare.
