Coronavirus – Budapest mayor to turn directly to operative board for infection figures
Budapest Mayor Gergely Karácsony on Sunday said he would turn directly to the operative board coordinating Hungary’s response to the novel coronavirus epidemic with his request for infection figures pertaining to the capital.
Karácsony reacted in a Facebook post to remarks from Róbert Kiss, a spokesman for the operative board, who earlier in the day said the board had yet to receive the municipal council’s request for data.
“If my information is correct, the operative board is a government body, which makes it all the more regrettable that apparently the Prime Minister’s Office has yet to forward my letter,” Karacsony said.
The mayor said he had also submitted his request via e-mail, “but it looks like the dozens of articles on this weren’t enough”. He said he would send his request directly to the operative board.
“Or should I deliver it to them personally?” Karácsony said. “If this is what it takes for us to finally get a clear picture.”
