Digital medicine and artificial intelligence: Semmelweis University set considerable goals to meet global standards

A strategic cooperation agreement on the development of digital therapies was signed by Semmelweis University, the Ministry of Innovation and Technology and Oncompass Medicine on Monday.

Dr József Bódis, Secretary of State for Higher Education, Innovation and Vocational Training emphasised that medical and health science institutions are internationally recognised elements of the Hungarian higher education system. The cooperation with Semmelweis University and Oncompass Medicine is considered crucial by the Ministry of Innovation in the strengthening of research and innovation activities and corporate relationships. The Ministry aims to support innovation in the Hungarian health industry, particularly in the fields of personalised diagnostics and therapy, digital health care and the medical application of artificial intelligence.

Dr Béla Merkely, Rector of Semmelweis University, said to Infostart that the institution has already demonstrated its ability to deliver world-class performance during the coronavirus crisis. Strategic cooperation facilitates research and development programs for the medical application of digital technologies and artificial intelligence.
