Hungarian businesses sign USD 37.6bn worth of agreements with Indonesia
Jakarta, February 1 (MTI) – Hungarian companies signed 37.6 million US dollars worth of agreements in Indonesia on Monday, Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said during a visit in Jakarta.
Szijjarto, a member of a delegation led by Prime Minister Viktor Orban, said the most important contract signed was for the Budapest Water Works to build water treatment systems in 34 Indonesian localities. The value of the contract is 36 million dollars and this could grow as the Budapest Works will take part in Indonesia’s plans to weigh up modernisation needs in the country’s water system, Szijjarto told MTI.
Hungarian IT companies will also be able to complete 1.6 million dollars worth of developments for Indonesian IT firms, he said. From the middle of next year Hungarian mobile phone provider Cellum will supply the applications to be bundled into the largest Indonesian mobile phone operator’s system, Szijjarto added.
He said Hungary’s Eximbank had opened a 200 million euro credit line to support business partnerships between Hungarian and Indonesian companies. He added that he had held talks with Indonesian foreign minister Retno Marsudi and with the country’s ministers in charge of utilities, housing as well as trade.
Indonesia is an important partner for Hungary and there is good mutual understanding on international peace-keeping, counter-terrorism efforts and handling migration. The two countries support each other’s bids for membership in the UN’s Human Rights Council. Hungary’s bid is for the 2017-2019 period, he said.
A diplomacy agreement has been extended to include joint training of diplomats, he added.
Szijjarto said that Hungary and Indonesia could be important parts of cooperation between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the EU.
