According to the data of the Austrian Ministry of Education, among the students coming from the Visegrad Four (Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, and Hungary) countries to Austrian universities since the 2009/2010 school year the most students are Hungarians – Economic and Enterprise Research Institute said. 596 Hungarian, 405 Polish, 363 Slovakian and 291 Czech first-year students began their BA or MA studies, index.hu reported.
The number of Hungarian students has grown significantly in Austria as well as in the UK.
Between the 2002/2003 and the 2007/2008 school years in Austria the most foreign students coming from the region were Polish, Hungary was only in the middle range. The number of Hungarian students significantly grew by the 2008/2009 academic year and it overtook the Polish numbers from next year.
In the 2012/2013 academic year, the number of Hungarian students grew from 461 to 677, which is extremely high. However, the 2014/2015 school year resulted in a decrease, index.hu wrote.
