Hungarian arts and culture exhibition opens in United Arab Emirates
A three week celebration of Hungarian arts and culture has opened at Al Bateen in Abu Dhabi , The National reports.
The Etihad Modern Art Gallery is hosting the joint exhibition of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, the Hungarian University of Fine Arts and the University of Pécs Department of Art.
According to thenational.ae, it features embroidered shirts and pillows from the Transylvanian Bukovina and a traditional cross-stitching pattern used in Hungarian folk embroidery transformed into paper scores for music.
The gallery’s founder and chairman Khalid Al Asmani said:
“Abu Dhabi has always been the link between the west and the east in trade and culture.”
“It is a great opportunity and a discovery. The Hungarians are proud and innovative nation and we have found many similarities between their culture and the Arabic culture”
During the three week display, events scheduled to take place include a showing of great Hungarian inventions, free tasting of traditional cuisine, arts, crafts and music nights from 7pm-10pm, thenational.ae said.
