Hungary committed to supporting Georgia, says FM Szijjártó
Hungary considers the European Union’s Eastern Partnership programme to be one of the bloc’s most important policies, providing constant support to Georgia, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said on Facebook on Tuesday.
Szijjártó said he had spoken by phone with his Georgian counterpart David Zalkaliani and congratulated him on Georgia’s successful organisation of its recent elections. “After all, the election was organised under new regulations and a new system,” he said.
The minister said it was “good news that the country’s aspirations for European integrations have not changed”.
Szijjártó said he had expressed his appreciation to Zalkaliani for Georgia’s mediation in the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
