Hungarian foreign minister meets Argentinian counterpart in Washington
Washington, DC, March 31 (MTI) – Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó met Susana Malcorra, his Argentinian counterpart, for talks on the sidelines of the nuclear summit in Washington, DC, on Thursday.
Argentina is mostly interested in importing Hungarian farming technologies and food products, Szijjártó said after the meeting, adding that there were good prospects to export pharmaceuticals and vehicles, too.
Speaking to MTI by phone, Szijjártó said that exports to Argentina increased by “a spectacular” 53 percent last year. He added that Hungary’s Eximbank had set up a pool of 27.5 million dollars to provide loans to boost Hungarian exports.
They agreed their countries would sign a pact on double taxation avoidance before the end of this year, Szijjártó said.
Szijjártó assured his counterpart of Hungary’s support for Argentina with efforts to improve ties with the European Union, while Argentina will back Hungary’s aspirations for membership in the United Nations Human Rights Council.
