Flóra Borsi, the talented Hungarian photographer got featured in CBS News

The talented Hungarian photographer, Flóra Borsi’s ‘Animeyed’ photo series has won the critical acknowledgement of another international medium, CBS News. Her project features animal’s overlapping self-portraits so that two faces have one eye in common. After seeing these surreal photos, you probably won’t think of a snake, a goldfish or a cat the same way you did before.

Flora is a young Hungarian fine art photographer. She uses exquisite photo manipulation to create surreal images that are thematically focused on identity, relationships, emotions and dreams. Her immaculate technique and subtle conceptual ideas create beautiful evocations of universal emotions, from lust and desire to despair and loss.

She was inspired to make this series of photo manipulations, called “Animeyed,” after taking a selfie with her dog and realizing the incredible similarity between her pet’s eye and her own. She told Bored Panda that she wanted to show that the animals are so unique and special, every little detail is different, and we, humans, are similar to them somehow.

You can imagine how much work and energy goes into one breath-taking photo. “Each piece takes 15-20 hours from the makeup, hair – photoshoot – stock photo research – manipulation. The retouching progress is about 12 hours for each work”

She once told origo.hu that she was only 11 years old when she started observing Photoshop and she tested different techniques until the age of 15. That was when she won a professional camera at an application so she started learning the technical part of photography. In the beginning she copied famous fashion photos but she knew that she needed more. She loved to draw and wanted to combine photography with drawing thus changing the colours, shapes and contradicting the laws of physics.
