Great! Debrecen was listed as one of the most of the best investment destinations in the world
The city of Debrecen received enormous recognition. It was ranked among the top 10 investment destinations globally in a recent survey by the Financial Times, which is dealing with international economy and finance.
One of the divisions of the Financial Times, fDI Intelligence, included the Hungarian city in a global survey and placed it in the Top 10 list of the world’s best investment incentive destinations. The city of Debrecen is accompanied by important cities around the world, such as New York and Berlin. In recent years, a number of foreign capital investments have been made in Debrecen, and thousands of new jobs have been created. Furthermore,
Debrecen is the 4th best city in the world for investments in terms of small and medium-sized cities.
The Hungarian city is preceded only by Manama, Düsseldorf, and Zurich. László Papp, Mayor of Debrecen, also mentioned the recognition. “Our industrial park network provides one of the most important foundations for our ability to deliver significant economic increase as well,” said the Mayor of Debrecen. He added that “in 2015, we launched the economic development process, which was also an important goal to attract the attention of investors, international, financial and economic analysts. Over the past five years, nearly HUF 680 billion in working capital has flowed into Debrecen, and 6500 new jobs have been created, thanks to these investments.”
The arrival of the BMW car factory also immensely helped the credit of Debrecen. In 2018, the largest investment in Europe was also made thanks to the connection between BMW and Debrecen. The city’s airport and many main roads also helped to reach its position during the ranking process. The city of Debrecen also places great emphasis on education, where the goal for students is to make innovation and have ambition.
The Debrecen 2030 program is a well-designed, forward-looking strategy.
Last year, with the arrival of the epidemic, there was no setback for the city. In 2020, the two largest investments were made by SemCorp from China and Sensirion from Switzerland. Besides, 4iG has created 20 jobs in the IT industry. The Hungarian-owned logistics company BHS Trans Kft. is building a new headquarters worth EUR 7.8 million, where many new jobs will be created.
Debrecen was therefore entitled to this noble recognition. The city has a well-developed infrastructure, conscious planning, skilled workforce, and a stable political situation, which will surely attract more investors in the future.
