The University of Debrecen, in eastern Hungary, will initiate a shift from being state-run to being operated by an asset management foundation, the institution’s press office said on Thursday.
The university’s senate voted unanimously at a special session to adopt the foundation model that has been applied to eight Hungarian universities, so far.
The institution will carry over all of its existing activities to the new operational model, including patient care, it said.
A resolution adopted by the senate confirms that the University of Debrecen will continue to devote close attention to the fields of health, multidisciplinary agricultural and food sciences, engineering and teacher training.
