Disaster! – Trailer crashes into guardrail on Hungarian motorway – VIDEO
Despite being an everyday activity for many people, driving is actually very dangerous; over 1.35 million people die in traffic accidents worldwide. This means that, on average, about 3,700 people die on the road every single day.
While Hungary, fortunately, is not the most dangerous country in the aspect of deadly traffic accidents, according to the Hungarian Central Statistical Office, approximately 957 traffic accidents have been fatal just in 2020. This is not a small number, so there is a highway code (KRESZ in Hungarian) that every driver should follow.
If you do not follow the code properly, it can have serious consequences; in a recent accident on the M3 Hungarian motorway towards Nyíregyháza, at the 72nd-kilometre marker,
a passenger car towing a trailer had crashed into the guardrail that divided the lanes at high speed.
According to 24, the driver lost control of their car after they have overtaken a shipping truck. It seems that when the driver returned to their lane, they steered too aggressively compared to their speed and the trailer started to swerve. Hungarian Public Roads says that everyone should observe the 80 kph (50 mph) speed limit when towing a trailer.
The driver tried to correct the trailer but ended up playing into the trailer’s motion and entirely lost control of their vehicle.

The passenger car collided front first with the guardrail in the middle and have spun around both the vehicle and the trailer. When the trailer collided with the fence, it was completely demolished and, due to the remaining momentum, flipped the passenger car on its top.

Luckily, the ongoing traffic was able to slow down in time, and the debris that flew to the other side of the motorway did not hit any other cars.
The traffic has halted for a short while, and many people have hurried to help the driver until the first responders arrived at the scene and over.
Miraculously, this accident was not deadly, and according to Infostart, there were two people in the car. Even though the passenger was seriously hurt, the driver only suffered minor injuries. The outcome could have easily become much more macabre.
