The number of people inoculated against the coronavirus has reached 5.5 million in Hungary and masks will not be mandatory from Saturday, the government website kormany.hu said on Friday.
Interior Minister Sándor Pintér has announced in an official decree that the number of inoculated had reached 5.5 million, allowing the sixth phase of the gradual easing of restrictions to enter into force on Saturday, the website said. Mask-wearing in shops and on public transport will no longer be mandatory, though
the rule remains in force in social care settings and hospitals.
Immunity certificates will not be required for the use of catering establishments, accommodation services, leisure facilities and for cultural events and performances with pre-booked seats.

One hundred people will be allowed to attend private events, up from 50, and the limit for weddings will go up from 200 to 400 people.
Immunity certificates will still be required for participation in sporting, music and dance events, as well as concerts held indoors and outdoor events with more than 500 spectators.
