Romanian citizen set two restaurants on fire in Budapest – VIDEO
A man tried to set two restaurants on fire at the Déli Railway Station in Budapest.
A couple of months ago, DNH reported how the Hungarian capital was getting safer with the number of crimes decreasing. Still, on some occasions, there are some pretty crazy or hard-to-understand offences.
Shocking crime – Robbers wanted to steel vaccines in Budapest?
This crime is one such case. In March,
a man started a fire at not one but two restaurants right next to Déli Railway Station.
He caused considerable damage of two and a half million forints (over seven thousand euros), writes hvg.hu.
Luckily, the fires were put out in time, before they could cause even more significant damage, either in the neighbouring buildings or the railway station.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Budapest writes that the Romanian citizen started the fires on purpose. On March 1, the 33-year-old man walked to a restaurant and set the huge sheet used to cover the furniture on fire. The fire then spread onto the plastic chairs, the fridges, the sidewall of the restaurant, and the outer storage areas. A waiter noticed what was happening and immediately called the firefighters. Unfortunately, by the time they arrived and resolved the situation, the damage already reached two million forints (about 5,700 euros).
A little later, he walked to another restaurant about a hundred metres away. He tucked newspaper pieces in between the holes of the foil tent on the façade of the building, then set the paper on fire with his lighter.
Overall, he caused significant damage of over 7,000 euros.
Moreover, there was a real risk that the flames would spread in the area, onto inflammable liquids, neighbouring resident buildings, and onto the railway station.
The perpetrator is currently under arrest and waiting for his court hearing where the Prosecutor will charge him with causing public danger and ask for jail time.

wow , speaking of media instigation.
Why oh why do you need to emphasize on the criminal’s nationality unless you are xenophobe, or aim to start racist instigation. Are we generalizing one person’s behavior as a specific for a whole country ?
in this case it’s fair to say that Hungarians are racists because some awful individuals chanted racist remarks at England’s football players.
Dear journalists, criminal behavior comes from individuals and not representative for a whole country.
