Casio is launching a limited-edition Rubik’s Cube-inspired watch. The Japanese watch manufacturer is dressing up one of their popular models in the colours of the Hungarian invention.

The Rubik’s Cube is a 3D combination puzzle invented in 1974 by Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture Ernő Rubik. His career started in Budapest, and he has become known all over the world by now. This time, Casio, a well-known brand, will pay homage to the Hungarian invention.

Fans of the well-known game will soon be able to buy the popular G-Shock watch manufactured by the Japanese Casio in the colours of the Rubik’s Cube. The company created the watch in cooperation with the official Rubik’s Cube company, Casio writes in a statement sent to Forbes.hu.

The model called G-Shock has been on the market since 1983. It is an extremely popular model, and the cooperation between the two companies with a long history is unfolding before our eyes,” emphasised Sándor Nagy, Casio’s product manager.

More than 450 million Rubik’s Cubes have been sold up to now

Ernő Rubik presented the coloured cube named after him 48 years ago, in 1974, and its popularity has been virtually unbroken ever since. Rubik’s Cube has sold over 450 million cubes to date in the world, making it one of the most sought-after games. The enthusiasm for the coloured cube is well-reflected in the fact that records are being broken year after year regarding how quickly you can solve the cube.
