Hungarian election authority heads brief ambassadors about election system, rules
The presidents of the National Election Office (NVI) and the National Election Committee (NVB) gave foreign diplomats an outline of the Hungarian election system and procedural rules and regulations in connection with the April 3 general election on Tuesday, NVI said.
Attila Nagy, the head of NVI, presented to the diplomats details of the election system and the composition and operation of the Hungarian parliament, the office told MTI in a statement.
He also gave an outline of the legal framework that allows holding a general election and a national referendum on the same day, April 3.
Nagy also informed the diplomats about the rules of voting at Hungary’s missions abroad, with special regard to the coronavirus pandemic.
András Téglási, the head of NVB, gave an outline of the structure, powers and tasks of the body.
The briefing at NVI’s headquarters was attended by most of the hundred diplomats invited,
the office said.
Hungarian President János Áder has set April 3 as the date for Hungary’s general election and the government-initiated referendum on the country’s child protection law.
