Scandalous! Hungarian man drugged and kidnapped in Kyiv

Three Hungarian men set off for Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital, to have some fun. However, the fun quickly turned into a nightmare for one of them.

They were having fun in a nightclub, but one man, Krisztián, had a blackout at dawn.

The horrible night

As Blikk.hu reported, one of the young men had been to Kyiv several times before but had never had any problems whatsoever – especially not such a huge one. One moment, Krisztián was having fun with his friends, but after the last drink, the world went dark around him, and he woke up in the company of kidnappers.

“They must have mixed something into my last drink that knocked me out. We left around four in the morning, and I crossed to the other side of the crossroads, a good thirty metres ahead of my companions. There was a figure leaning against the side of a white car. The next thing I remember is that I was lying in the back seat of the car, being driven by a grey-haired man smoking a cigarette. Then, the world went dark again, I must have been thrown out of the car, waking up at nine in the morning at a deserted bus stop. Of course, I couldn’t find my valuables, my wallet or my phone,”

Krisztián recalls the events.

The events

According to Index, his knee and face were injured, his valuables, wallet and phone were taken, and a total of HUF 700,000 (€~1,965) was withdrawn from his bank card 14 times.

According to the young man, the kidnappers must have seen his code when they entered the nightclub, as Krisztián was paying for the tickets. They tried to withdraw money from his card on Monday, but it had already been cancelled.

“My friends told me that they had been robbed that night too. One of them was robbed on the street when I was abducted, and the other was robbed as he was returning to our flat after we lost each other,”

Krisztián told Blikk.hu.

Filing reports at the police

The men went to the police station where, with the help of an interpreter, they explained what had happened and filed a report. With the help of the consular service, they were finally flown back to Hungary on Monday. Krisztián then went to the police station in District 8 where he also filed a report.

The BRFK confirmed this to Blikk.hu and said that due to a lack of jurisdiction, the documents were sent to the prosecutor’s office. According to the portal’s information, in such cases, it is the prosecutor general who decides whether proceedings should be initiated in Hungary as well.

“Even on Monday evening, I received four notifications that they had tried to withdraw money from my card, but it was already cancelled. I have no hope of the perpetrators getting caught, but I hope that the police will establish that I was indeed the victim of a crime and that I might be reimbursed for some of the money that was stolen from me,”

Krisztián added, disappointed.
