A 24-year-old Hungarian model was imprisoned in Italy for drug trafficking even though she was innocent. The incident left deep scars and has shattered Gréta Gila’s dreams.

According to Index, the young Hungarian model wanted to travel to Tokyo to attend a photoshoot that could further the career of the Miss Hungary beauty contest winner.

Before she could board the flight to Tokyo, she had to travel to Rome and meet up with a designer who would give her the clothes she needed for the photoshoot in Tokyo. However, things did not go as smoothly.

Circumstances

Gréta Gila reported to Atv that she reserved a room at a hotel near the Fiumicino Airport where she waited for the designer. At 11 pm, someone knocked on the door. It was the designer with a suitcase, so Gréta invited her in and led the way to the room.

According to her account, when she turned around, the designer was on the ground, and officers in civil attire barged into the room, shouting “Police!”.

Atv writes that one of the investigators asked Gréta if she knew what was in the suitcase. From the situation, the model could deduct that it was probably not the clothes she was expecting.

Imprisonment

She recalled that one of the worst things was when she arrived at the Civitavecchia at midnight and was led to her cell seeing all the dark prison cells.

The report she gave to Atv says that she was informed by Massimiliano Scaringella, an Italian attorney Gréta’s mother commissioned to defend her daughter, that the supposed designer was the member of a drug trafficking ring.

The Italian police found 11 kilograms of cocaine in the suitcase, and to save herself, the designer said that the suitcase was for Gréta, the Hungarian model.
