Hungary is capable of providing help and assistance to all those in need coming from Ukraine, prime minister Viktor Orbán said in Kisvárda, near the Ukrainian border, on Thursday evening.
Viktor Orbán moved to stay in the area for three days on Wednesday to organise preparations for a new wave of refugees.
In a video posted on Facebook he said the number of refugees arriving in Hungary
since the outbreak of the war was expected to pass 450,000 on Thursday.
Orbán said he and the interior minister visited police and disaster management institutions that play a crucial role in providing for refugees.
“Coordination is going well. We have the resources to cater for an even larger number of refugees,” Orbán said and thanked police and disaster management for their work.
The prime minister later visited the local hospital which has been assigned the task to treat ill refugees. “The staff here is well prepared to care for an increasing number of people,” he said. Orbán
thanked the residents of Kisvarda for accommodating a large number of children coming from Ukraine.
