Where you can find the best rooftop bars in Budapest? – Photos
Budapestinfo collected the best rooftop bars in Budapest where you can enjoy the World Heritage view with a refreshing drink and delicious snacks. Most of the rooftop bars are located on the bustling Pest side and they are on the top floor of fancy hotels, which are not limited to in-house guests only. The best Budapest views come with great drinks.
360 BAR
One of the most popular rooftop bars is 360 Bar, located on the top of the former Paris Department Store on Andrássy Avenue close to the Opera House. You can try sunrise yoga, listen and dance to a DJ spinning records at sunset or simply admire the enchanting atmosphere with a wine spritzer. Rooftop bars are mostly popular during the summer, but you can enjoy this particular place during the cold months too. In the heated igloos, you can taste their winter specialties such as the home-made mulled wine or the soul-warming cheese fondue.
ST. ANDREA WINE & SKYBAR
St. Andrea Wine & Skybar is located on the top of Váci 1 office building, above Vörösmarty Square. There are great views of the pedestrian shopping street, the Christmas Market during the winter and the Citadel across the river. After shopping at the nearby Fashion Street, take a break here with an energizing drink. The bar-restaurant is open all year round and has indoor seating and a panoramic outdoor terrace. Try the white and red wines coming from the St. Andrea vineyard from the Eger wine region.
HIGH NOTE SKYBAR
Offering creative drinks and food, the High Note Skybar is located on the top of the Aria Hotel, next to St. Stephen’s Basilica. The bell towers of the church can almost be touched from here. The hotel, which has received many awards has a music theme all around. The highest sounds in the Skybar will be triggered by the intensely flavorful unique cocktails and the foods and desserts designed to go with them. Come for dinner or just for a drink.
THE DUCHESS
The city’s newest drink library, The Duchess, is housed in the recently opened luxury hotel Matild Palace and gives a new meaning to the famed roofscape of the capital. This hidden gem was inspired by Maria Klotild, Archduchess of Austria, who dreamed about a lavish hiding place on the roof of the palace, where she could entertain and share her sense of joie de vivre with the socialites of the city. In addition to decadent cocktails, the gastronomic experience was created by renowned MasterChef Wolfgang Puck.
INTERMEZZO
Intermezzo is a 360-degree outdoor panoramic terrace on the top of Hotel President, overlooking the iconic dome of the Parliament and the Hungarian State Treasury’ Zsolnay-tiles adorned roof. In summer, the terrace transforms into one of the city’s most cozy rooftop restaurants with grilled and light dishes. In winter, you can snuggle up with a hot drink inside the bubble. A couple years ago, there was an outdoor ice-skating rink on the rooftop terrace. Fingers crossed for next year.
THE SKY GARDEN
On the top of Mystery Hotel, there is a garden hidden above the city. Despite the hustle and bustle of the area, enjoy the calm vibes with a nice drink at The Sky Garden. From here, admire the Western Railways Station’s impressive building, designed be Eiffel and views of the Buda Castle and Gellért Hill. Part of the roof terrace is decorated with Doric columns and lush vegetation and there is a small area that can be rented for private events. The hotel’s rooms and suites, the spa, and the restaurant all have a mysterious atmosphere.
SOLID
SOLID, located on the seventh floor of Hotel Rum is an exciting wine bar. It is the little sister of the hotel’s Michelin-starred SALT restaurant. Here, in addition to the panorama of Budapest, including the curves of Gellért hill and the Royal Palace, the main focus is on the wines. Local, international, sparkling and non-sparkling wines are highlighting natural and biodynamic features. The extended opening hours on the weekends are great for a hearty breakfast or brunch, not only for the hotel’s guests, but for everyone.
LEO ROOFTOP
In Buda at the top of Hotel Clark is Leo Rooftop, a friendly jungle above the city. From here you can almost touch the Tunnel carved in the hillside, the Buda Castle and the Chain Bridge. There are very few rooftop bars on the Buda side, so the panorama from here overlooking the Pest side is especially unique. With their handcrafted cocktails, you will soon be able to raise your glass to the stone lions guarding the Chain Bridge, which is currently under renovation.
SKY BAR & POOL BY CORTILE HOTEL
Enjoy the illuminated city and the romance of the rooftops of Pest with a delicious drink and your friends at the Sky Bar & Pool by Cortile Hotel. The small bar is kind of hidden among the buildings providing a unique view of the district. In addition to cocktails, you can have a refreshing dip at the infinity pool. The hotel is committed to protecting the environment, so you will need to bring your own towels from home.
LIZ AND CHAIN SKY LOUNGE
From the elegant terrace of Marriott Budapest, an unparalleled panorama opens up in the direction of the Buda side from the Liz and Chain Sky Lounge. Below you, the iconic tram #2 rushes along the embankment, sightseeing boats glide on the Danube, and the Gellért Hill and the Royal Palace lit up in front of you. Enjoy the view between the Elizabeth Bridge and the Chain Bridge during the wonderful sunsets with a unique cocktail. Open during the evenings from Wednesday to Saturday. Watching the fireworks from here on Hungary’s national day (20 August) is a bucket list experience.
LIEBLING
Liebling is probably the most relaxing place within the INSTANT-FOGAS ruined pub complex. The building’s height will not break records. Do not expect an unparalleled panorama, neither you will have to struggle with vertigo, but there will be brilliant live music during the evenings. Order great wines and soak up in the youthful atmosphere at this upstairs terrace. Afterwards, head to the other rooms of the building to dance until dawn and to enjoy the ruined bar vibes of Pest.
MEMORISE SKYBAR
MemoRise Skybar is a seasonal roof terrace atop Hotel Memories Oldtown Budapest. It gives an exciting hidden atmosphere among the rooftops of Pest. Feel the cosmopolitan vibe above the city with views of the Citadel. Relax and enjoy the sights with wonderful Hungarian wines, special cocktails and home-made sorbet. Your rooftop experience will be complemented by seasonal and locally sourced dishes and live music.
MAMMUT ROOF
Further away from the city center, yet still close to everything in Buda, there is Mammut Tető (roof in Hungarian) on the top of a Mammut shopping center just next to Széll Kálmán square. On warm summer evening, enjoy indie films at the open-air cinema. Before or after the movies, chill in the deckchairs and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere with great DJs and refreshing wine spritzers.

These listings are always useful – especially since I have some visitors coming to Budapest this summer. But as has happened before on occasion, the addresses have been omitted. Addresses please – and no, a Facebook link is no good since many people do not use Facebook anymore (for good reason).
