Hungarian parliament elects State Audit Office head

Lawmakers on Monday elected László Windisch head of the State Audit Office (ÁSZ).

Windisch was elected with 136 votes in favour and 23 votes against, with 11 votes being ruled invalid. After the vote, Windisch took his oath of office before parliament.

Windisch, currently deputy leader of the Central Statistical Office (KSH), had been nominated for the post by parliament’s relevant committee at the recommendation of the ruling Fidesz-Christian Democrat alliance.

The head of the ÁSZ is elected for a 12-year term with a two-thirds majority of lawmakers in a secret ballot.
