Hungarian Justice minister: Europe needs peace
Change language:
Europe needs peace, not war, Justice Minister Judit Varga said after a meeting with her European Union counterparts on Tuesday.
One of the topics on the agenda at the meeting was the war in Ukraine, Varga said in a post on Facebook. Hungary has said since the start of the war that bringing an end to the conflict as soon as possible is in the interest of the whole of Europe, Varga said, arguing that a rate of wartime inflation not seen since the second world war and soaring energy prices were weakening the entire continent.
Hungary made it clear at the outbreak of the war that it condemns Russia’s military intervention, and has insisted since the start that it must stay out of the conflict, the minister said. This is why, she said, Hungary supported taking action against war crimes within the proper legal framework at the possible forums.
