Government: Hungary among first states providing real help for Ukraine
Hungary has been among the first countries to provide practical assistance to Ukraine, a Hungarian foreign affairs official said in Kyiv on Thursday.
Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk and Metropolitan Epiphanius, head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, both expressed appreciation for Hungarian humanitarian aid, Levente Magyar, a ministry state secretary, said after discussing the situation with the two officials.

“We’ve reached the point where it’s clear who is providing real long-term assistance to the Ukrainian people, as opposed to those who vocally express solidarity but prove to be less active in practice,” Magyar said.
Hungary will remain at the frontline of assistance and continue to help Ukraine through all possible channels in this particularly difficult situation, he said, adding that Hungary would make every effort to help families, refugees and schoolchildren endure the hard times ahead with as little trauma as possible, Magyar said.
