No danger of EU cutting funds from Hungary, says Hungarian minister in Brussels
The European Union has not cut any funds from Hungary up to now, and there is no such danger under the European Commission’s Sunday decision, the justice minister said in Brussels on Tuesday.
Judit Varga told reporters that “following a lengthy period burdened with ideological conflicts” Hungary was now conducting “intensive, constructive and progressive talks” with the commission aimed at finding a resolution, adding that the Hungarian government had tabled 17 proposals in Brussels.
The Hungarian proposals address the commission’s concerns raised within the EU’s conditionality mechanism against Hungary, Varga said.
The proposals focus on improving anti-corruption measures, the transparency of public procurements, and on “certain regulations on conflict of interest”, she said.
“According to the assessment of the European Commission, each and every Hungarian legislation proposal could give satisfactory answers to all professional issues,” she said.
Regarding the procedure launched against Hungary, designed to protect EU budget by linking funding to member states maintaining the rule of law, Varga said the financial interests “should be protected only in line with the laws. Currently, the European Commission and the European Council is solution-oriented, only the European Parliament is aiming to remain part of the problem,” she said.
Further, Hungary is working to preserve the principle that EU issues should be decided by unanimous votes, as enshrined in the EU treaties, she said. Hungary stands by solutions based on consensus among member states, she added.
She praised Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki for “standing by Hungary”, who said that Poland was against withdrawing any EU funding from Hungary. Morawiecki’s words “show that the Hungarian-Polish unity perseveres,” Varga said.

Hungary – have NEVER agreed “signed off” – that – AUDITS – be conducted by the European Courts of Auditors.
The European Courts of Auditors – are the external auditors, of the European Union – whose task it is, to AUDIT yearly, the funding distribution, of European Funds.
In their audit process each year, the reliability of European Accounts and the Legality and Regularity of the transactions underlying the accounts for both revenue and expenditure.
Hungary – words used by Minister for Justice – Judith Varga – high profiled member of the Fidesz Political Party, under its Leader and present Prime Minister of Hungary – Victor Orban – in very recent time, that Hungary – we have nothing to hide, we agree on transparency & co-operation – moving forward, we have complied to ALL requests made on us by the European Union.
Justice Minister – Judith Varga – statement, reported in this article, and being “laughed at” in Brussels, that Hungary, should not FEAR of being cut off from European Union Funding.
This statement – is the personification of WRONGNESS – through the Hungarian Government / Fidesz Party – PROPAGANDA Machine.
If Hungary – has NOTHING to Hide – Victor Orban & his Government – the Justice Minister – who is being continuously used as the mouth piece, by the Victor Orban led Government of Hungary, why not INFORM – the European Union, that from the time – his first time in the office as Prime Minister of Hungary, through to his present “tenure” – the Books of Hungary – are OPEN – for an AUDIT – to be Conducted by the European Courts of Auditors.
Wow – what tails – and “other” findings in ALL probability – would be Discovered, Found and the NEED – for referral into Legal environments – European Courts of Justice and “other.”
Never know – Hungary’s judiciary system could be FREE again, in the not to distance of time, that see’s – the REMOVAL – of what is PRESENT – WRONGFULLY – and not Democratic – a Government controlling the Judicial System of Hungary.
Justice Minister & Prime Minister of Hungary – Victor Orban – “nothing to hide ” – open the BOOKS.
Blimey, frightening what state media portrays. Outside media certainly isn’t as optimistic. Haven’t read anywhere else that there’s no danger of the EU cutting funds to Hungary. Whatever happens we’ll hold Varga accountable then!
