Growing tension: PM Orbán may veto an important EU decision
The tension between the European Union and Hungary is growing. The Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orbán, prepares to veto a new important EU decision about joint debt. Balázs Orbán, the political director of the Prime Minister, said that the veto will take place if Hungary does not receive the promised EU funds.
Balázs Orbán’s concrete statement was, according to 24.hu, the following: he does not understand why Hungary should support a joint action, while they are not receiving money from a similar economic development fund. If somebody could explain it to him, then he would merrily listen to it.
He said this to the Daily Telegraph to answer their question. The eurosceptic newspaper’s editor described Hungary as the black sheep of Europe, which has headed towards a crisis. All this because Brussels cut the lifeline towards the country. Previously the European Parlament accused Viktor Orbán of corruption, where he used public funds for the benefit of his friends.
What’s going to happen?
The Court of Justice of the European Union can issue fines because Hungary limited the rights of gender minorities. According to Tibor Navracsics, the minister of regional development, the EU is trying to control the Hungarian government because of ideological reasons. The minister was asked whether the law, which allegedly protects children, was worth 27 billion euros or not. The law in question prohibits the dissemination of information about gender issues under the age of eighteen. The minister responded, that it is a difficult question, but denied that the government would be against homosexuality.

One solution could be that Brussels will offer 60-70 percent of the original sum of money, about 21 billion euros. However, Daniel Freund, a German green representative in the European Parliament and a critic of Orbán said the following: Orbán is always saying that there is a cultural war between Hungary and the European Union, which is only a diversion from the real problem. The cause of the tensions is corruption and the destruction of democratic institutions.
Despite all that is going on, it is unlikely that Hungary will be kicked out of the EU. Even the government knows that the EU membership is too valuable to risk, so they try to be as careful as they can. Zsolt Németh, chairman of the parliament’s foreign commission, added that Hungary needs all the money it can get. He said that now the government is fighting for its own money, which rightfully belongs to the country.

An explanation? Then “merrily” read this: corrupt, strangling media freedom, big question over democracy and rule of law, creeping authoritarianism.
Of course, as always, it’ll be everyone else’s fault, Soros lapdogs, EU, Brussels bureaucrats, the Left, can almost hear it now!
Still at least he can tweet his one sided sad little comments like his hero Trump. No doubt ‘witch hunt’ will be in there somewhere.
Orban continues to bury Hungary in the European Union.
Recovery by Hungary, to receive future funding, continues to look highly unlikely, whilst Fidesz – the name Victor Orban is seen in relation to dealings and negotiation’s relating to the European Union.
Hungary should veto all EU decisions that are contrary to the welfare of the Hungarian people.
@mariavontheresa – perhaps we should just leave the EU if they’re indeed that evil (but the EU is still mutually resolved through dialogue – for some reason, we are the odd one out, a lot of the time). Be Sovereign, Hungary First! Like the UK (how’s that going?).
Or should we wait until we become a net contributor to the EU and leech off of them (“Our Money!”) until then?
Democracy – is Dialogue.
Victor Orban has continuously FAILED comprehending the NEED of dialogue in DEMOCRACY.
MASSIVE evidence of Orbans failure to listen – engage in dialogue through the provision democracy invites mounts builds of – Orbans destructive personal attitude, his inabilities and RESPECT to others, to listen and afford “others” a voice and opinion.
No better example is Orbans longevity destructive agenda to Divide, Separate and Fragment – with an ultimate GOAL personally, to destroy the European Union.
Orban continues personally and sadly Hungary humiliated by the FAILURE of his agenda, and that the European Union, through the RIGHT of European Union Laws, imposed on Orban/Hungary, through his DESTRUCTIVE agenda.
Hungary – it continues to be SEEN mounting daily – through the Victor Orban agenda – the aggressiveness of the agenda, which at no time has there been placed attention or emphasis on Democratic Dialogue procedures, that Hungary, though not Rightfully receiving funding from the European Union, is in a position of Capitulation.
Hungary – blame falls back on the SHOULDERS directly to Victor Orban, as the CATALYST instigator – why the membership of Hungary, being an ongoing member of the Family of European Countries, is in a Perilous position.
The name Victor Orban will NEVER reconcile to work AMICABLE – in its purpose of Functionality, with the European Union, whilst the name Orban, is sighted on documentation, from Hungary to Brussels.
Hungary – 9.6 million of us – what DO we DO?
Do sanction really work? Ursula von der Leyen visited Serbia and President Vucic. Austria receives is energy supply from Serbia, through a pipeline (gas transferred through Serbia comes from Russia). Ursula wants the Austrian pipeline extended to Germany. Germany followed suggested sanctions against Russian oil/gas. This is a total farce. There are demonstrations in Germany and other EU countries because of fear of a winter without adequate energy for heat as well as energy to keep the economy moving. The EU is complaining of Hungary’s policy of acquiring gas. Why is the EU determined to freeze the Hungarian population and further damage its economy?
Ukraine is not presently nor has ever been a true democracy. Zelensky outlawed all opposition parties and all verbal opposition to the war regardless of the damage to the country.
By-the-way, President Biden went begging to Saudi Arabia for more oil/gas. Saudi Arabia, like some countries puts its own interest first. Saudi Arabia decided to lower energy production by 2 million barrels. The result, the US threatened Saudi Arabia.
Russian oil/gas is needed. There is no green substitute for fossil fuels. It is time to stop the farce and the stupid war played by men. It is time to put the safety and the interest of the citizens first
