Half of downtown Budapest will be closed on Sunday – here is why
The traffic changes will affect public and private means of transport in the downtown of the Hungarian capital this Sunday. Budapest will host the so-called Mikulásfutás (Budapest Santa Dash) this weekend. Below you may find the details.
Because of the contest, the Budapest Transport Centre (BKK) will close from traffic Budapest’s prestigious FÅ‘vám Square in front of the Corvinus University from 7 AM until 4 PM on Sunday. Furthermore, the restrictions will affect the Sára Salkaházi and Jane Haining wharves between Közraktár Street and the Jászai Mari Square between 10.50 AM and 2.30 PM. Moreover, there will be temporary closures on the track of the Advent tournament concerning the Belgrade Wharf, the Irányi Street and the Március 15. Square, portfolio.hu wrote.
Therefore, BKK modified the routes of buses number 15 and 115 between 10.50 AM and 1.50 PM. That means they will not stop on Március 15. Square and Fővám Square. Instead, they will halt in front of the Hotel Astoria and on the Ferenciek Square.

Moreover, trams 2, 2B and 2M will not commute between the Széchenyi István Square and the KözvágóhÃd. Trolley bus nr 83M will omit its stops on Közraktár Street and FÅ‘vám Square to use the bus stops of lines 15 and 115 on Czuczor Street and Török Pál Street.
Buses nr 105 and 178 will not touch Eötvös Square, József nádor Square and Deák Ferenc Square. Instead, they will stop at the stops of bus nr 7 on Ferenciek Square, Astoria, Uránia and Deák Ferenc Square.

According to a statement of the BKV, Santa buses will start operation on 3 December and will carry passengers on the weekends until 18 December on the 107 bus line. On 6 December, they will do so on line 95, metropol.hu said.
