Economic Development Minister Márton Nagy on Thursday met French Ambassador Claire Legras and a delegation of businessmen in Budapest, to discuss Hungarian-French business ties, Hungarian and European competitiveness and current tendencies in economic policy, the ministry said.
Representatives of the Hungarian-French Chamber of Commerce and Trade and of companies like Legrand, Servier, Groupama, Axereal and others have also attended the meeting. France is Hungary’s 10th largest trading partner and its 5th largest investor, with French companies employing some 40,000 people in the country, Nagy said.
The minister briefed the delegation on Hungary’s transforming industrial policy, on reindustrialisation and the main aims of its economic policy, the statement said. High investment volumes and exports will be key in Hungary to avoid recession and to “jumpstart the economy” in the coming years, Nagy said, highlighting the importance of French investments and developments in the process.
Nagy and the delegation agreed that dialogue and cooperation between the two countries should be “deepened and expanded”, the ministry said.
