PHOTOS: 150 new buses to come to Budapest
ArrivaBus is adding 150 low-floor, air-conditioned, environmentally friendly buses to services in Budapest, the Budapest transport centre BKK said on Thursday.
Anikó Körmendi, the chief executive of Arriva Hungary, a unit of Deutsche Bahn, said that 50 buses will be introduced at the start of each of the next three months. ArrivaBus operates more than a third of buses in Budapest, she added.
Péter Szepesi, ArrivaBus’s managing director, said 75 solo buses and 75 articulated MAN Lion’s City buses will be in service. The solo buses have a capacity for 73 standing and 31 seated passengers, while the articulated buses for 128 standing ad 42 seated passengers. The buses will also include reserved areas for prams and for wheelchairs, he added.
Meanwhile, BKK (Budapest Transport Centre) director Katalin Walter said that new CAF trams will start operating in Budapest from the second half of 2024, and of the 48 new Solaris trolley buses, 39 are already in use.
