Péter Takács, the interior ministry’s state secretary for health care, signed a strategic agreement with representatives of advocacy groups on Friday.
“We are looking for ways to provide the highest possible financial and moral compensation for health specialists,” the state secretary said. “It’s not enough to have good ideas; those need to be made a reality in cooperation with the stakeholders.” Takács said the advocacy groups were “tough negotiators, but all the more constructive”.
“The agreement will serve as a solid foundation enabling us to fight shoulder to shoulder for modern health care with a human face,” he said. The agreement was signed by Ágnes Cser, head of health-care and social workers’ union MSZEDDSZ, Zoltán Balogh, head of the Hungarian Chamber of Health-care Workers, and Lajos Toma, head of the Independent Trade Union of Ambulance Workers.
Momentum MEP: Education should create opportunities
Good education creates opportunities, and the Momentum Movement is preparing to govern with education in focus, the party’s MEP, Anna Donáth, told a conference in Budapest on Friday. At the conference organised by Momentum, the Tomorrow’s Hungary association and the Renew Hungary party family of the European Parliament, Donáth said such governance required “generous financing” and autonomy for schools and teachers, as well as high-quality, constantly renewed trainings for teachers.
Solving the “gravest crisis in Hungary, that of education” would ease others such as the cost of living crisis, she said. She said the lack of teachers was “dramatic” in Hungary. According to a European Commission survey, the number of weak-performing Hungarian students has grown “to a brutal degree” between 2011 and 2021, she said.
Momentum will aim to raise the funding of public education from 4.5 percent to 7 percent of GDP. Teachers’ wages should be raised to 100 percent of the minimum wage of degree holders, she added. Momentum has turned to the EC with a request to make the payment of EU funds to Hungary conditional on a public education reform. The party also launched a signature drive to support the proposal, she added.

What can you do but roll your eyes…? For these people the answer to everything is “FREE MONEEEEEEEEY!!!” They never say where the money for these raises would come from. For once, it can’t be by “making billionaires pay their fair share” because just yesterday they were attacking Orban’s excess profit tax. That ain’t it, then. Would they institute some cuts or other types of public-sector or government savings? They’ve proposed nothing like that that I’ve seen. So, it’s another cheap stunt to make it look like they care and buy votes in the process using imaginary $$$.
Orban and his “Mob” have NO money to “throw” into Education in Hungary.
The Orban led Government of Hungary – on the “cusp’ of an Insolvent Government, that is REVERTING to imposing HEAVIER taxes on its PEOPLE, in an attempt to SAVE it-self.
Orban 14 years that he has been Prime Minister of Hungary, has “treated” Educators and Education lacking RESPECT and Importance to the Future of Hungary.
Orban and his “Mob” through acts continuous of BROKEN Promises to Education, that factually they have “played off” Education for what they decided projects of greater importance that focused to “fill there pockets” from European Funding in particular, and DECEIVED – through un-truths, fabrication of Truth and Facts, repetitive lies, that has left EDUCATION in Hungary as we know it to-day in a cataclysmic MESS.
Educators have been INSULTED by this Orban led philosophy to just dismiss them not showing at all APPRECIATION in the skills and talents there commitment like a VOCATION, to the education of the future of Hungary.
Orban and “his mob” dismally have FAILED to INVEST into Education.
Governments that don’t continuously INVEST into Education FAIL in there “Duty of Care” in there contribution to the FUTURE of a country.
Orban FAILED this test DISGRACEFULLY – that just not has failed future and current Education in Hungary but the entire country of Hungary, that generations of younger Hungarians WILL be effected by the policy’s into Education, the present Prime Minister of Hungary – Victor Orban introduced WRONGFULLY into Education – from Educators right through all the componentry of EDUCATION in Hungary.
Shameful and Disgusting – that just HORRENDOUSLY fails to recognize and ACCEPT ;
” That Education, opens WINDOWS of OPPORTUNITIES.”
If I was the OPPOSITION Government in Hungary, of which there are to Many, and through number(s) just FALL over each other, that RESULTS in getting NOTTING effectually done nor in mounting CHALLENGES opposing the Orban Government, they should SPELL out to the PEOPLE of Hungary the following;
(1) – we wish to remain a Member of the European Union.
(2) – we will go to the European Union – with a Mandate – seeking there assistance – seeking somewhat EMERGENCY funding – to RIGHTEN the appalling state that Education in Hungary is presently in.
(3) – Clearly outline to the European Union why funding is needed and the ALLOCATION of future funding into EDUCATION – how it is to be APPLIED.
The European Union KNOW what Orban has done to EDUCATION, his treatment to Educators in Hungary, and the OPPOSITION should work hand in hand with the European Union, to Re-build – bring EDUCATION in Hungary overall into the 21st century and CREATE for ALL future and present Hungarians OPPORTUNITIES that are a KNOWN factor of EDUCATION.
Message is OPPOSITIONS – yes to membership of the European Union and the “Grand Plan” – for the FUTURE.
Successful Education – is a Partnership between the Home – the school and the Government -that EMBRACES the need to continuously INVEST into Education.
In an atmosphere of openness – mutual Trust & Respect – must exist between all Partners – students, parents, staff and the Government of the Day.
WHAT a LAUGH – and act of total Hypocrisy – an INSULT to Education / Educators remains in the ideas and philosophy of the Orban Government to Education.
Orban – wants to CONTROL – like he does the Media, the Judiciary, use of Rule by Decree in Hungary, he – his Government – want to CONTROL Education.
Never, Never, Never – must this be in Hungary.
