Hungary’s Saint Stephen’s Day 2022 celebrations have received an important international recognition at the Eventex Awards 2023 professional competition, the Hungarian Tourism Agency said on Tuesday.
The celebrations for Saint Stephen’s Day marking the founding of the Hungarian state received a Silver Award in the Celebration Event category, the statement said. Saint Stephen’s Day celebrations spanning several days were recognised as one of the best European events, it added.
The winners were selected from a record 761 submissions from a total of 49 countries, and Saint Stephen’s Day has been recognised besides such prestigious events as the Qatar Airways 25th Anniversary, Hong Kong New Year Countdown Celebrations, and the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 closing event, the tourism agency said.
Hungarian filmmaker’s new film to debut at Venice Film Festival
Gabor Reisz’s new feature film, Explanation for Everything, will debut as part of the official programme of the Venice International Film Festival held from Aug. 30 to Sept. 9. The film was selected to screen in the Orizzonti (Horizons) section, featuring films representing the newest trends of aesthetics and expression, the distributor, Cirko Film, said.
Reisz’s third film is the story of a young boy navigating the world of school-leaving exams and young love in a divided society. The film written by Gábor Reisz and Eva Schulze was made in cooperation with the Slovak audiovisual fund, and the main roles are played by Gáspár Adonyi-Walsh, István Znamenak, András Rusznak and Rebeka Hatházi. Hungarian cinemas will screen the film from5 October, with two pre-viewings on 22 and 23 September.
