Attention: Major banking pause in Hungary
MBH Bank will be closed for several days, but there will be a break at other banks as well such as OTP, Raiffeisen and Erste.
MBH Bank holds bank holidays between 29 September and 3 October
MBH Bank Nyrt.’s IT network is awaiting another large-scale transformation. The bank prepared for the largest merger in Hungarian banking history, involving nearly 2 million customers, with a bank holiday of several days between 28 April and 2 May. Even after the successful transition at that time, however, important developments remained to be done.
That is why, in order to create a unified operation of the bank and to ensure quality customer service, another major harmonisation of the IT systems will take place. Unification involves an IT transition, which is why MBH Bank will hold partial and full bank holidays between 29 September, 2023 (Friday) 12:30 and 3 October (Tuesday) 12:00.
What service will be available during the break?
During the entire transition period, the following services will be provided without interruption:
- the use of digitised bank cards in phones and smart watches
- cash withdrawals through the money-issuing ATM network
- bank card ban on physical purchases at store and POS terminals with a card
During this period, bank card acceptance will also work smoothly at merchants where this service is provided by MBH Bank. The telephone customer service, on the other hand, will only be available from Saturday morning to Tuesday afternoon with limited administration. Bank branches of MBH Bank will close at 12:30 PM on 29 September, 2023 (Friday), and will only reopen at noon on 3 October (Tuesday). The Videobank services will not operate between Friday 7 PM and Tuesday 12:00.
