PHOTOS: Beautiful girls, magical dresses at Central Europe’s biggest Fashion Week in Budapest
The Budapest Central European Fashion Week took place in the Hungarian capital for the 12th time. The event was organised by the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency (HFDA). The prestigious main event held at Millenáris between the 2nd and the 3rd of September attracted over 2,500 visitors from all over the world.
About the event
Besides presenting outstanding catwalk shows, the Budapest Central European Fashion Week awaited its visitors with almost 20 side events. The programmes included roundtable discussions, musical performances, workshops and pop-up stores. In between events, visitors had the chance to relish a refreshing glass of Martini Fiero, thanks to Martini, the sponsor of the event. At the prestigious event, nearly 40 brands presented their newest clothing masterpieces. Among those, 14 debuting regional designers showed their vision to the public for the first time. The programmes and collections were characterised by colourful diversity. There is no such thing as too old or too young, the designers had something to offer to every generation. In addition, cultural diversity and tradition were also put in the spotlight. Over 2,500 visitors participated in the catwalk programmes held over the first weekend of September. The shows were also available live on BCEFW’s Facebook page.
The objectives of the Budapest Central European Fashion Week
Among the main theme of the fashion week organised in the beloved Hungarian capital was sustainability. Both organisers and designers aimed to minimise waste. Designers played around with fun sustainable materials and special tailoring techniques for the noble cause. Another important objective of the event was to help young talents to be involved in the world of fashion. Anita Forintos-Szűcs, Deputy General Manager of the HFDA says:
In this season, in addition to strengthening our regional fashion industry role, one of the aims was to attract and involve the younger generations in the programme. This time, we saw particularly talented new entrant designers at the Young Talents and New Generation sessions who brought freshness and a 21st-century vision to the runway. I hope we will hear about them in the future. It is good to see that fashion, culture, and creative values can mobilise them masses season after season. This is the driving force behind BCEFW.
Brands and designers
Twenty-four Hungarian brands presented their 2024 spring-summer collections during the event. In addition, Ukrainian, Romanian, Czech, Polish, Slovakian and Serbian designers also made an appearance at BCEFW. Among many others, Daige, Gudu, Katti Zoób, Sentiments, Vicher, Sugarbird, and Mero showed their newest creations to the public. The event was also a great opportunity for designers to meet and participate in valuable discussions with each other.
