New express delivery company to conquer the Hungarian market
In a surprising move amidst challenging geopolitical circumstances, Nova Post, Ukraine’s major express delivery company, has recently established its presence in Hungary.
European footprint
Hungarian postal services have a new Ukrainian competitor. Despite the ongoing war, Nova Post is actively expanding its operations, making Hungary its tenth European market entry. Nova Post’s expansion journey has been noteworthy, with existing branches in countries such as Poland, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Romania, Germany, Slovakia, and Moldova. The delivery company is eyeing the Italian and French markets as its next potential destinations, Forbes.hu reports.
Leadership in Hungary and expansion plans
Heading Nova Post’s operations in Hungary is Marianna Pajda, the former Managing Director of Packeta. Pajda, now the CEO of Nova Post in Hungary, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the table. Nova Post’s entry into Hungary comes with a substantial investment of EUR 100,000 (approximately HUF 38 million). The Hungarian team, currently comprising seven employees, is geared up to deliver efficient and reliable mail and parcel services. While the first branch is established on Teréz körút in Budapest, Nova Post envisions potential expansion based on customer demand. A sorting center, similar to those in Ukraine and Poland, could become a reality in Hungary.
Target audience and specialised interface
Nova Post’s main target audience comprises Ukrainian customers, including those who have sought refuge in Hungary due to the war. As we wrote before, over 32,000 Ukrainian refugees are currently in Hungary. However, Nova Post also welcomes Hungarian individual and business clients, offering a special interface for the latter to place orders and arrange deliveries to Ukraine.
Domestic and cross-border services
In a bold move, Nova Post has not only entered the Hungarian market but is also introducing a domestic delivery service in collaboration with Express One. This strategic partnership is reinforced by advanced digital solutions, including a business account, a user-friendly mobile app, and real-time parcel tracking updates every two minutes. Moreover, Nova Post aims to offer competitive pricing for its services from Hungary to Ukraine. For more information about their pricing, check out their website HERE.
Co-working spaces and humanitarian efforts
The branch in Budapest distinguishes itself by not merely being a delivery hub but also a unique co-working space. Designed to foster a sense of community, this space is open to Ukrainians and Ukrainian entrepreneurs residing in Hungary. It serves as a hub for networking, collaboration, language learning, and attending various training sessions, seminars, and lectures.
Notably, Nova Post is not just about business expansion. The group actively engages in humanitarian efforts, delivering over 600,000 parcels to war-affected areas at their own expense since the onset of the Russian-Ukrainian war. The establishment of the SuperNova airline in 2021 for international parcel delivery and the launch of a weekly cargo service between Riga and Rzeszów in Poland showcase Nova Post’s commitment to serving both its customers and the broader community.
Collaboration for diplomatic and economic ties
Vyacheslav Klimov, the co-founder of Nova Post, emphasises that amidst challenging times for Ukraine, the delivery company’s presence in international markets highlights the resilience and adaptability of Ukrainian business. Furthermore, István Balog, Ukraine’s temporary representative in Hungary, highlights Nova Post’s entry into the Hungarian market as a significant step in developing cooperation between the two countries. Amidst geopolitical challenges, the presence of Nova Post exemplifies the benefits that strong and dynamic Ukrainian businesses can bring to customers across borders.

Does Hungary need a Ukrainian delivery service? Why?
@ mvt – Why not? You might be familiar with DHL, FedEx and UPS.
I mean… Okay… Competition is never a bad thing. I don’t see what this outfit has to offer that the other half-dozen-plus don’t. Is it cheaper, is it faster, is its tracking facility better…? What distinguishes it?
