Here are Hungary’s public holidays in 2024: six-day long weekend ahead
Here is a compilation of public holidays and long weekends in 2024 and their alignment with weekends.
As reported by Portfolio.hu, unlike 2023, which lacked any Saturdays, 2024 will feature three single-day “working” weekends: on 3 August, 7 December and 14 December.
Additionally, there will be plenty of long weekends, as no public holiday falls on a weekend, resulting in a total of seven extended weekends.
Three-day long weekends in 2024:
30-31 December and 1 January 2023 – Saturday, Sunday, Monday
15-16-17 March 2024 – Friday, Saturday, Sunday
18-19-20 May 2024 – Saturday, Sunday, Monday
1-2-3 November 2024 – Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Four-day long weekends in 2024
29-30-31 March and 1 April 2024 – Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday
17-18-19-20 August 2024 – Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday
Six-day long weekend in 2024:
24-25-26-27-28-29 December 2024 – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Wow. Businesses must be on ther brink of bankrupsy with having to pay for so many and such long weekends while people stay at home. And add to that that the sick days and yearly 2 week holidays that people earn thru the months of work they do, easy to see why the country is not at tracting businesses. But at least people can be at home to use their time wisely to grow food, have side hussles, take care of the youngest and most elderly family members. That is important too.
