New research by online travel agent weloveholidays reveals the most Instagrammable Christmas Markets across Europe, based on Instagram posts using the relevant hashtag.Manchester Christmas Market ranks first with nearly 60,000 posts.Edinburgh (51,316 posts) and Strasbourg (30,949) follow in second and third.

With the Christmas season just around the corner, people across Europe are getting into the festive spirit. In fact, searches for ‘Christmas markets 2023’ have increased by +8,950% in recent months.¹

But where do Europe’s most beautiful Christmas Markets take place? To find out, online travel agent weloveholidays has compiled a list of the most Instagrammed Christmas Markets in Europe.²

Taking top spot is the Manchester Christmas Market in the North West of England, with 59,656 Instagram posts using the hashtag #manchesterchristmasmarket. Edinburgh follows in second, with 51,316 posts, with Strasbourg in France ranking third (30,949).

Behind Dresden in spot four (24,406 posts) ranks Vienna, “The city of dreams”, ranks fifth, with 18,812 Instagram posts of #viennachristmasmarket. Five Christmas Markets in Germany made it into the top 15 in Europe: Dresden (fourth) Frankfurt (seventh), Berlin (11^th), Munich (12^th) and Cologne (15^th).
