PHOTOS: President Novák prepares presents for homeless
President Katalin Novák on Wednesday helped the Hungarian Reformed Charity with packing Christmas presents for the homeless.
The packages, to be distributed by the Reformed Church’s homeless mission, contain food, snacks, chocolate, Christmas candy and health food supplements.
The president also visited a homeless shelter.
The charity said it aimed to reach out to tens of thousands of needy people in the Carpathian Basin in the Christmas season, with special regard to 4,000 “shoe box” presents to children in foster care and with poor families in ethnic Hungarian communities, as well as 6,000 packages of food to families and elderly people.
The charity provides firewood to 125 families in the winter season and offers meals, tea, and food packages to rough sleepers.
