Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó met the leaders of Slovakia’s ethnic Hungarian Alliance party, in preparation for Prime Minister Robert Fico’s visit to Budapest next week.
Szijjártó said on Facebook that he and Alliance leader Krisztian Forro had reviewed the most important issues for ethnic Hungarians living in Slovakia.
The foreign minister said that the Hungarian government was looking forward to the visit, and pledged to give emphasis at the talks to “crucial” development projects in southern Slovakia where a large number of Hungarians live.
“We are ready to increase the number of border crossings between the two countries so that the border should connect rather than separate people,” he said. Hopefully, “empty railways will fill up again, and there will be joint bus routes and new bridges,” Szijjártó said.

Orbán and Szijjártó are forever interfering with the internal democracies of other nations. If there are so-called ‘ethnic’ Hungarians living in other countries – then they are not ‘Hungarians’.
Someone who speaks Hungarian but lives in, say Slovakia….. is …wait for it….. Slovakian!
As a subject of Slovakia, they pay taxes in Slovakia, and are part of the Slovakian population. Their first language should be Slovakian and their loyalty should be with Slovakia and they should be fully integrated into that society. In a democracy their voting loyalty and social responsibilities are with the Slovakian people, of which they are part. They should own a passport of their nation – Slovakia. (I believe Slovakia does not allow dual citizenship – so only one passport.)
Orban’s interference in Slovakia’s affairs runs to giving Slovakian citizens – who speak Hungarian – a vote in Hungary. This is gross interference – regardless of whether these Hungarian-speaking Slovakians had ancestors who were ‘stranded’ by the Trianon treaty of 1920.
They should fully integrate into the country as Slovakians – or clear off to Hungary, if they want Hungarian spoken in schools and written material in Hungarian.
However many of us know that these ‘Hungarians’ cause trouble in the surrounding non-Hungarian countries where they reside.
This is akin to Putin invading the Crimea with his little green men – and then falsifying local county election votes to install ‘mayors’ sympathetic to Russia and building up a corrupted voting democracy that becomes a cancer within.
All the while knowing that these ‘foreigners’ vote Fidesz when they ‘bus-in’ in droves during Hungarian elections. These ‘foreigners’ can also collect Hungarian pensions without ever having contributed to Hungary’s economy by applying for a Hungarian passport – while also never having lived in the country.
Orbán should stop giving votes outside Hungarian borders – and full accept that he promised not be irredentist when he signed the EU treaty – and keep out of other country’s business.
The many Russians who escaped the army ‘draft’ by seeking refuge in Hungary just might get together in Hungary and form the ‘fifth column’. They will then be in position for when Putin invades Hungary! If he thinks NATO will come to his side under article 5 – he could very well be mistaken.
History repeating itself – with all those old barracks buildings in Hungary being occupied by all those raping Russians!
