VIDEO: Hungarian Maros folk dance group’s Fisherman’s Bastion performance goes viral
The Transylvanian traditional folk dance group was on a sightseeing tour at Budapest’s iconic Fisherman’s Bastion in the Buda Castle. Since they were there, they thought they would do a teaser for their performances with the bastion and Saint Stephen’s equestrian statue in the background. The video went viral almost immediately.
Ten dance group members started dancing at the Fisherman’s Bastion near the symbolic Mathias Church. Feet thumped on the ground while their hands clapped in perfect harmony and without music. They are professionals. They do not even need music to dance breathtakingly.
Thankfully, they uploaded their astonishing video on Facebook, where it already has more than 160 thousand views, Lelépő wrote.

The group’s most important aim is to popularise folk dances, strengthen the national identity of the younger generations and pass their knowledge to new generations of dancers. Currently, the Maros folk dance group has a special place in the professional folk dance groups in Transylvania, Lelépő added.
