VIDEO: Blood-curdling brawl between Hungarian and Bosnian team at Budapest-Bamako rally final party
A fierce brawl broke out between the Hungarian team and the team from Bosnia and Herzegovina at the party at the end of the Budapest-Bamako rally.
After the medals were awarded, a brawl broke out at the closing ceremony, rtl.hu reported. The brawl was witnessed at close range by András Szabó Gál, the organiser of the Budapest-Bamako Rally. He said that he had no idea why the participants of the race clashed fists.
The locals told me that they hadn’t seen such a serious brawl since the civil war. By the way, many participants complained that they could not film wild animals in Africa during the race. Now they were able to catch some at the end,
he added.
During the brawl, a whisky bottle was smashed on the skull of one of the Hungarian competitors. He was treated quickly by the rally doctors, who had to stitch up his head.
Former news site contributor Dávid Hamberger was also on the scene. He said that everyone at the awards ceremony was tired, irritable, and many were extremely drunk.
One of the Hungarians accidentally lost his balance and leaned against the table of the Bosnian team, who aggressively shouted at him. This was what started the brawl.
“It became a mass brawl because everyone went in to protect their own. Only a few people would have fought, but because everyone tried to intervene, this happened. The police tried to bring people forward, but Africa is the continent of opportunity. Here, everything can be settled with a few nice sentences, so it didn’t become a big deal,” Dávid Hamberger said.
