New flights from Budapest to exotic places: summer timetable begins this weekend!
According to a Hungarian air travel Facebook page, Budapest Airport awaits the summer of records this year. Based on early calculations, the traffic growth may reach 18% at the airport in 2024.
New airlines in Budapest
According to Budflyer, January and February were busy months at Budapest’s main airgate. The management expects that trend to continue in March.
The airport’s summer schedule enters into effect on 31 March with several new flights. The engines of the flight expansions are two low-cost airlines, the Irish Ryanair and its Hungarian competitor, Wizz Air. Passengers can travel to 122 cities and 130 airports this summer with 39 airlines. The summer timetable lasts until the end of October.
A new airline, TUI, is to appear at Budapest Airport. They will operate two routes from the Hungarian airport, London-Gatwick and Manchester. They will carry passengers to Budapest for Danube ship cruises. This summer, the Uzbek Qanot Sharq will also return (more info in THIS article). However, Budflyer still regards it as uncertain.
Lots of new flights from Budapest Airport
The new flights of Ryanair from Budapest Airport include Milan Malpensa, Tirana (Albania), Faro (Portugal), Trieste (Italy), Frankfurt-Hahn, and Skiathos (Greece).
Wizz Air will carry passengers to Brassó (Brasov, Transylvania, Romania), Brussels, Bucharest, Stuttgart, Valencia, Yerevan (Armenia), and Chișinău (Republic of Moldova).
Furthermore, there will be flight frequency increases in many directions. Wizz Air will raise the number of flights to ten destinations: Milan, Rome, Basel, Athens, Madrid, Malta, and Nice (France). Ryanair will launch more planes to Alghero (Sardinia, Italy), Málaga, Sofia, Berlin, Pisa and Birmingham. EasyJet is to operate 13 flights to Basel and 6 to Geneva (Switzerland) every week.
Budapest remains well-connected to the East
Budapest will not have any Transatlantic flights, but our air connection network to the East will expand. We can travel to Seoul (LOT and Korean Air, four planes/week). Three planes will commute to Beijing (Air China) weekly, while we will be able to travel to Shanghai every day thanks to China Eastern Airlines and Shanghai Airlines.
Qatar Airways will bring back its Dreamliner flights on the Doha-Budapest route from 1 May.
