The construction of the pristine TRIBE Budapest Airport Hotel is well on its way. The new hotel will be connected to the already operating Ibis Styles Budapest Airport Hotel. The development is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year.
The old and the new Budapest Airport Hotels will be directly connected
We have already reported on the plans for the new hotel in 2023. As we wrote then, the Ibis Styles Budapest Airport Hotel opened in 2018 and has been operating at almost full capacity ever since, with its 145 rooms booked nearly constantly. Such a high demand made it necessary to open a new facility.
The latest great news is that construction is well underway, with its completion expected in October 2024, according to magyarepitok.hu.
The new TRIBE Budapest Airport Hotel is situated right next to the Ibis Styles Budapest Airport Hotel, both within walking distance of Terminal 2 of the Liszt Ferenc International Airport. According to plans, the two hotels will be directly linked to each other.
The innovation of this new hotel is that it will also be connected to Terminal 2 by a roofed walkway, making it possible for tourists to simply walk from the airport to the hotel without ever leaving the building.
The hotel spans a total of 8,000 square metres across 7 floors and will have 167 rooms available for guests once completed. It will also house a 150-seat conference room, two meeting rooms, a fitness centre, and a luxurious sky bar on the top floor. Overall, the establishment will not only be able to accommodate arrivals but will also function as a conference venue, tailored to the needs of business and transit travellers.
Unique design combined with sustainability: this is the TRIBE Hotel
The design of the new building will emulate the pebble-like, rounded facade of the Ibis Styles Airport Hotel, with windows reminiscent of that of commercial airliners. The soft curvature of the hotel is intended to create an ergonomic overall image, which was the guiding principle for the building’s designers.
On the inside, however, the new hotel will have its own unique identity: the interior designers have envisioned the aesthetics of TRIBE to be slightly different from the clean Ibis Styles composition, while still keeping to a contemporary style.
Swietelsky Magyarország Ltd. is carrying out the project on behalf of WING (WPR PORT Ltd.). Ferenc Horváth, the project manager, highlighted the following when it comes to the construction:
“The developer, WING, aims to acquire a BREEAM Good certification for the building. As part of this goal, emphasis is placed on continuous and open communication with the surrounding area. The developer will also pay particular attention to limiting water and energy use and carbon emissions, recycling as much demolition material as possible, and obtaining building materials from sustainable sources.”
So far, the foundations and the structural works have been completed up to the 5th floor of the new hotel, with the structural works of the penultimate 6th floor currently in progress, along with the preparatory works for the façade cladding.
The new four-star TRIBE Budapest Airport Hotel is expected to open its doors – which it will now share with the already operating Ibis Styles hotel – to travellers in 2025.
