Top foreign influencers flooded Budapest to promote the beauty of the capital

Change language:

Roughly 50 A-list influencers and YouTubers, who together have 10-15 million followers, spent a few days in Budapest participating in a series of events organised by the Hungarian Tourism Agency (MTÜ). The event, called the Budapest Influencer Trip, was part of MTÜ’s spring campaign, in which top influencers showcase the beautiful and exciting aspects of Budapest to their audiences.

Budapest Influencer Trip, a one-of-a-kind event

According to HVG, MTÜ’s aim was to promote the Hungarian capital to audiences within the 25-40 age group.

“We have never seen an influencer trip of this magnitude in Europe,” László Könnyid, CEO of MTÜ, told Index. A total of 50 influencers from 14 countries were invited to the event. Könnyid added that it can take several months for a tourist to decide on a travel destination, and impulses from social media have a defining influence. Well-crafted content can capture their attention, making it important to involve influencers. The event, which promotes high-season bookings, can attract travellers to Hungary who are difficult to reach through more traditional marketing methods.

Addressing the 25-40 age group is particularly important for tourism service providers, as Index reports. This demographic typically has stable careers, more free time, and greater financial resources, leading them to travel more frequently. Data from the National Tourist Information Centre indicates that the number of young adults among tourists visiting Budapest is increasing.

Who were the guests?

As Telex reported, guests included David Dobrik, one of the most famous YouTubers with over 25 million subscribers across his two YouTube channels, and British actress and model Amy Jackson, known for her roles in Indian films, who has 13.5 million followers on Instagram. American top model influencer Haley Kalil and American comedian and influencer Hannah Stocking, who has 26.4 million followers, were also present.
