Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said that Hungary’s concept, “which differs from the official concept”, is that the European Union should not copy the US Democrats’ foreign policy.
Orbán said on his way to the 4th European Political Community Summit (EPC) held in Blenheim Palace near Oxford that a new European approach was needed, with strategic autonomy in mind.
In response to a question concerning Hungary’s “peace mission”, Orbán said “we are progressing well, it is not easy when there is headwind, but for the time being we have made all the planned steps”.
He said he had made some proposals in the interest of the European approach. “I am progressing slowly, but they are thinking about it. I hope I can advance further with the next steps,” he added.

Commenting on his recent talks aiming to achieve peace in Ukraine, he said he had represented his own position. Commenting on Donald Trump, Orbán said “he is a man of peace and what we need is peace”.
Orbán: there are many pro-war countries
Regarding the situation in Georgia, Orbán said the country “is doing extremely well, and the government is trying to maintain independence and sovereignty amid extremely difficult circumstances”.
Orbán said many European leaders did not understand how difficult it was for a country like Georgia to protect its sovereignty in all directions.
Asked what his message was for Ukraine, Orbán said “I am with you”. Peace is a long way ahead “because there are many pro-war countries who think they can annihilate Russians with military force”. Orbán said he disagreed: “I know Russians, Ukrainians and the context,” he said, adding that the conflict had no solution on the battlefield.
The EPC summit, which has issued invitations for 47 heads of state and government, is expected to focus on support for Ukraine and joint challenges such as energy, security and democracy, and migration.
The EPC was created in 2022.
Orbán’s Patriots for Europe did not support von der Leyen’s re-election
The European Parliament’s Patriots for Europe fraction will not support the re-election of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Fidesz MEP Kinga Gal told the EP in Brussels on Thursday. “Europe needs change! It is weaker now than it was five years ago,” she said.
The PfE would not vote for Von der Leyen because she did nothing to achieve peace in Ukraine, allowed the EU’s migration pact to pass, and did not protect children from LGBTQ propaganda, she said. Her presidency had also harmed farmers, weakened Europe’s competitiveness and “concluded vaccine contracts suspicious of graft”, she said.
She slammed Von der Leyen for “weakening member states’ sovereignty, using EU procedures and resources for political blackmail and making double standards the norm while boycotting Hungary’s EU presidency”. Von der Leyen harmed Europe in the process, she said.

Hungary should stop copying Russia’s foreign policy. Orban started his new party in the EU “Putinists For Europe.” Hungary is a write-off as a European country. It’s so far in bed with Russia that it is like being sucked into a black hole that you can’t get out of. The years of Kremlin propaganda Fidesz has promoted has done it’s job quite well as Hungarians allowed themselves to be boiled in the pot like a lobster thinking the warm water is great.
People of Hungary falsely believe that EU bureaucrats can actually think for themselves. That is a joke. The EU or UK do not make a step without US approval.

The Dems’ foreign (or, for that matter, domestic) policies are not in the interests of the U.S. itself, let alone the Western civilization.
An endless war that is clearly achieving nothing but racking up the death toll of young European men (who will no doubt be replaced by, ahem, “New Europeans” betimes) and a nosedive in our standard of living.
