The stakes in a United States presidential election have never been as high as they are now, Balázs Orbán, the Hungarian prime minister’s political director, said in a keynote address to an international geopolitical summit in Budapest on Tuesday.
The liberal world order is over, and at the dawn of a “new world order”, conservatives have to know what positions, narratives and way of thinking are needed in order for them to be the winners of the new era, Orbán told the event organised by the Danube Institute and The Heritage Foundation.
Orbán said that after the Cold War the Washington Consensus had built in exchange for money and access a Western liberal world in which the values represented by conservatives had no place. But, he added, the liberal world order had “failed” and the rest of the world, which had chosen not to adopt liberal values, had turned against the West.
He said that from an economic policy standpoint this had strengthened the West’s challengers, while from a social standpoint it had caused tensions in the West that had undermined the conditions of peaceful coexistence, public safety and trust. It had led to the emergence of multiple power centres of which no given block was strong enough to rule over the rest, and all such attempts led to armed conflicts, the suffering of millions, economic decline and the collapse of the social structure, he argued.
Orbán believes we should fight against “imperialist ideologies”
Orbán said progressive liberals were on the side of the war that was weakening Europe while the conflict was leading to a weaker European economy. Europeans and Americans, he added, bore responsibility for creating peace.
Concerning the principles of the world order based on sovereignty, Orbán mentioned basing economic decisions on national interests and the preservation of traditional values, saying that in this area there was a greater need for conservatives than ever before.
He called for fighting all “imperialist ideologies” that aimed to erase nations and wanted the world to be governed by a homogenous, centrally-controlled political power.

This “New World Order” rhetoric by Fidesz is straight out of Nazi Germany. The one thing Fidesz politicians are completely oblivious to is that Donald Trump does not care about Hungary or any other country. He only cares about himself. Orban won’t get any benefit from Trump should Trump be elected. He will only get words of praise that will massage his frail ego. Trump has thrown countless sycophants like Orban under the bus. The stupid thing Fidesz has done is to pick sides in the US election. You run a 50/50 chance of being on the wrong side and there is no benefit should your chosen pick win. Orban won’t get any favours from Harris should she win.
Today we have wars and rumors of wars to come in many places on earth. Israel appears to have launched an electronic attack against communications devices of Hezbollah that is said to have killed several and injured 4000 or more. Israel has not as of yet taken responsibility for the attack. We have disasters such as earthquakes, fires, floods and storms in places all around the world as well. In short were a mess. The reason I believe is clear. These are the end times and were headed quickly to the tribulation period that the Bible tells us about. Jesus Christ died in man kinds place in order to forgive us of our sins. All you need to do to get that forgiveness is to turn from sin and pray to him and take his free gift of forgiveness. If you want that salvation in Jesus, do it quickly because as you can see time is running out and the tribulation period of God that will punish the whole world is coming fast! Don’t be here when it arrives!
People have being saying we are in the end times ever since The Book of Revelation was erroneously added to the Bible some time in the 4th century. It should have been left out. All it does is give panic to neurotics.
Larry, what are you taking about. In the Nazi era in Germany Jewish people first lost their jobs, then they exterminated these innocent people. Germany re-armed its armed forces and attacked surrounding countries. Larry you idiot, the German people supported all atrocities, including the master race. German people supported the world war that started with invading Sudeten Land.
Pray tell, which country has Hungary attacked? Which nationalities did the country gas to death, what nationalities did the government use as slave labor?
Hungary has a free press and there is free speech as well, that was ruled out in Germany. There still is a ban on free speech in the UK and EU.
